Wellness in Action at Tuxedo High School 🧠💪✨
Students in Ms. Jones’ college-level Adolescent Psychology class took learning beyond the textbook and into real life with a powerful focus on mind, body, and spirit wellness.
Each student selected two wellness strategies—from exercise and better sleep to meditation, drawing, music, and even Bible reading—and committed to practicing them for a full week. They researched the science behind their choices, tracked their daily progress, and reflected on how these habits impacted their well-being.
The results? 📉 Reduced stress, 😌 improved mood, and ❤️ healthier daily routines. Students then shared their journeys through engaging slide presentations, inspiring one another with their creativity, honesty, and growth.
This hands-on project showed that small, intentional changes can make a big difference. We’re proud of our students for prioritizing self-care and learning skills that will support them long after graduation! ❤️🌪️

🎬🍫 Movie Night Magic at Tuxedo High School!
Students enjoyed a fantastic evening at our recent movie night, hosted by Interact Club, National Honor Society, and Student Council! The big surprise? The featured film was Willy Wonka—a perfect choice after last week’s incredible school play of the same name. It was the sweetest way to keep the excitement going!
The night was made even better with a delicious snack spread generously provided free of charge by our wonderful community partner, Hacienda Don Manuel in Suffern. Students enjoyed churros, salsa, chips, and guacamole while watching the movie with friends—talk about a golden ticket experience! 🌟
Thank you to all the clubs who worked together to make this event such a success and to Hacienda for supporting our students and school community. Events like these make Tuxedo High School a fun and welcoming place to be! ❤️🌪️

Making a Difference, One Act of Service at a Time! 🤝💙

Tuxedo High School’s Interact Club, open to both middle and high school students, is all about giving back and stepping up for the community. Guided by their powerful motto, “Service Above Self,” these dedicated students take pride in doing their civic duty and helping wherever they’re needed.
From organizing service projects to supporting local initiatives, Interact members are building leadership skills while making a real impact close to home. The club is proudly connected to the Ramapo Rotary, giving students the chance to work alongside community leaders and be part of something bigger than themselves. Advisors Tom Reilly and Courtney Elmendorf lead by example and show students the value of being community minded. ❤️🌪️
We’re so proud of these young leaders who show every day that kindness, teamwork, and service truly make a difference! 🌟

Lit Talks Thursdays 📚✨

In Valter Ulaj’s Thursday classes, students take the lead in their learning through engaging, student-driven discussions centered on The Great Gatsby and poetry. Each week, students select meaningful passages, chapters, or motifs and dig deep, analyzing elements like character, structure, narration, and figurative language to uncover larger themes and ideas.

Through close reading and thoughtful annotation, students identify patterns and contrasts, then extend their thinking by connecting their analysis to scholarly research. They bring these insights to the class, leading discussions with purposeful questions that invite their peers to think critically and contribute.

In addition to presenting, students complete a written reflection in MLA format, incorporating their analysis, research, and broader connections. This process strengthens their ability to think, write, and speak like true literary scholars.

Lit Talks Thursdays are all about amplifying student voice while building essential skills in analysis, writing, and discussion, preparing students for success in AP Literature, college, and beyond. 💡

Medieval History Comes to Life at Tuxedo High School! ✨🛡️
Students in Ms. Jones’ Global History I class dove into the world of knights, castles, and family legacies as they researched, designed, and created their own colorful Medieval shields inspired by their family heritage. Each crest told a unique story, blending history with personal identity.
To bring their creations to life, students also wrote historical fiction essays that captured the spirit of the Middle Ages and reflected the symbolism behind their shields. They then presented their work to the class, practicing strong presentation skills while their peers offered thoughtful feedback and constructive criticism. This is a 30 year tradition in Global History❤️🌪️ at George F. Baker High School.
From creative designs to engaging storytelling, it was an exciting and meaningful way to explore history—and a great time was had by all! 🏰📜🎨 #TuxedoTornados #HistoryInAction #StudentCreativity
