Alessandra Stegen earned Honorable Mention in the grades 7–12 category of the Essay Contest sponsored by the Alcohol and Drug Awareness Council of Orange County! 🎉
This year’s theme, “Picture Your Future Through a Drug-Free Lens,” encouraged students to reflect on their goals, dreams, and the importance of making healthy, drug-free choices. Alessandra’s achievement highlights her thoughtful reflection and strong writing.
We are proud of her accomplishment and look forward to the recognition ceremony on May 8th at Orange County Emergency Services, where the winning essays and posters will be displayed for the community. Alessandra received the exciting news earlier this week from her art teacher, Mrs. Foligno, and her Creative Writing teacher, Mr. Ulaj. 👏✨ #TuxedoPride #TuxedoUFSD

📚🎨Our GGM students today enjoyed a wonderful Books and Breakfast event led by our art teacher, Michelle Foligno. During the event, Mrs. Foligno read "The Big Orange Splot", a story that encourages readers to embrace courage, creativity, and individuality. Through the story, students learned about the importance of expressing themselves and celebrating what makes each person unique.
After the read-aloud, students had the opportunity to bring the book’s message to life through an art activity. They designed and created their own houses inspired by the story, each one reflecting their personalities, ideas, and imagination.
It was a fun and meaningful morning filled with creativity, thoughtful conversation, and of course great books and breakfast. Thank you to Mrs. Foligno for creating such a special experience for our students! 📚🎨🏠
