Students Celebrate 17th Annual Peace Day with Pinwheels for Peace
🌍🕊️Today, students at George Grant Mason Elementary in Tuxedo joined millions around the world in celebrating Peace Day as part of the global Pinwheels for Peace movement.
What began in 2005 with just a few teachers and students in Florida has blossomed into an international tradition, with pinwheels planted across the globe to mark the International Day of Peace, observed annually on or around September 21st. Due to weather conditions, our celebration was postponed until today.
Established by the United Nations in 1981, Peace Day serves as a worldwide call to action—encouraging people of all ages to commit to peace, bridge differences, and build a culture of understanding within their communities.
Students created pinwheels to offer a powerful message of hope. As they spin in the wind, they symbolize peace, kindness, and unity.
We are so proud of our students for using their creativity and voices to promote peace. They remind us that even the smallest actions can send ripples of change.
Thank you to our amazing Choral Director, Sam Johnson, who led the whole school in a song about peace; to Principal Park and Acting Superintendent Jared Kahmar for their support; and to our wonderful community of families who came out for the event. Also, a huge thank you to our Art Teacher, Michelle Foligno, for organizing this wonderful morning!

GGM’s first spirit day of the 25-26 school year was Friday, September 26th. The theme, Gear up for a Great Year, was a big hit. Students sported shirts and jerseys from their favorite teams. A wide variety of teams and sports were represented, including baseball, basketball, soccer, hockey, football, hurling, and grappling, Several students proudly wore their Tuxedo Tornadoes gear, showing that their favorite team is our very own.

Let’s come together as a school community to honor and celebrate peace.
Location: Please park in the lower lot and walk up to the upper lot by the flagpole at GFB.
We look forward to seeing you there!

Today is International Dot Day! We celebrated creativity, courage, and self-expression inspired by the book, "The Dot" by Peter H. Reynolds at GGM. This special day reminds us that a single mark, a dot, can spark endless possibilities when we believe in ourselves and our ability to make a difference.
Please visit the area outside the art room in GGM at Back to School Night this Thursday to see our student's beautiful creations!
