This week, Mrs. Correa led our assembly titled Books with a Break, focusing on the importance of giving back to those around us. During the assembly, students learned about ways they can make a positive impact in their community, and especially at school. To put their ideas into action, they created colorful mittens that showcased the many ways they plan to help others. It was wonderful to see our students’ creativity, thoughtfulness, and generosity come to life! A great job to our 4th graders who helped Mrs. Correa read some of the book!🧤 #TuxedoPride #TuxedoUFSD #TuxedoTornadoes

Joann Martin has truly worn many hats during her more than 30 years at Tuxedo, and each one with dedication, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to our school community. From directing the Transportation Department and driving the bus herself to running the Food Service Department, Joann was always willing to step in wherever she was needed, often behind the scenes and always with a smile.

Beyond her daily responsibilities, Joann gave so much of her heart to our students. She coached Modified Softball, encouraging teamwork, confidence, and perseverance both on and off the field. She was also instrumental in organizing, collecting, and distributing donations for our Thanksgiving food baskets and for the holiday toy drive through the Outreach Program, ensuring that families in our community felt supported, cared for, and remembered during the most meaningful times of the year.

Joann’s impact goes far beyond the roles she held. She brought warmth, reliability, and genuine compassion to everything she did. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of service, generosity, and love for this community will always remain. We are incredibly grateful for all that Joann has given to Tuxedo, and we wish her nothing but happiness in the next chapter of her journey. ❤️ #TuxedoUFSD #TuxedoPride #ThankYouMrs.Martin

🧠 Adolescent Psychology in Action! 👓
Ms. Jones’s Adolescent Psychology class had a blast exploring how the brain works and how plasticity allows it to adapt and change. Students wore vision-altering goggles to experience firsthand how the brain adjusts to new challenges. This turned a fun, hands-on activity into a powerful learning moment about perception, adaptation, and growth. #TuxedoPride #TuxedoUFSD

💻✨ Computer Science Education Week (CSEdWeek) is an annual global event held during the second week of December (December 8–14). It is celebrated each year to inspire students to explore computer science and get excited about coding. As part of the celebration, GGM STEM students participated in Hour of Code activities that used block coding to program characters, solve challenges, and even create simple games 🎮🧩.

Under the guidance of Ms. Klimowich, our students were thoughtfully led through these engaging lessons. Before diving into coding, Ms. Klimowich took time to review what it means to be a good digital citizen. A digital citizen is someone who uses technology safely, responsibly, and respectfully. Students discussed and practiced ways to stay safe online, including being kind in digital spaces, keeping personal information private 🔒, thinking before clicking on links or messages, and knowing to talk to a trusted adult if something online makes them uncomfortable 🤝.

🌟 Through Ms. Klimowich’s leadership, students not only built foundational coding skills but also strengthened their understanding of responsible technology use. #CSEDWeek #STEM #TuxedoPride

at 5:00 PM in the GFB auditorium

We’re excited to offer parents an engaging session with Marybeth Tyrrell as she breaks down the latest trends, risks, and realities surrounding vaping, nicotine, and cannabis. Her presentation will give our Tuxedo families clear, practical information to support conversations at home.

Earlier in the day, students will hear from Marybeth as well. Her student presentation is designed to be informative, and honest, helping them understand how these substances can impact their health and decision-making.

This event provides both parents and students with meaningful insight and tools to stay informed and make safe choices. We hope to have you join us right after Parent-Teacher Conferences! #TuxedoStrong #TuxedoPride #TuxedoUFSD

Dear Tuxedo Parents and Caregivers,

With winter weather predicted for tomorrow, we wanted to remind families of our procedures for inclement weather.

The Tuxedo UFSD schools will close or delay our opening when weather conditions create hazardous and unsafe road conditions.

Our automated emergency response system will notify families via text, calls, and email. Information will also be posted on our school website and social media.

Announcements will typically be made by 5:30 am.

In cases of a delayed opening, there will be no morning C-Tech for those high schoolers who attend.

When schools are closed due to emergencies, all after-school activities, including the Healthy Kids Aftercare program, athletic practices and games, and events are cancelled unless otherwise stated.

We will continue to watch this storm and make any decisions in the morning that might impact our day. Thank you and stay safe!

🍁🦃 Happy Thanksgiving from our Tuxedo UFSD Family! 🦃🍁

Our halls were filled with festive spirit this week!
Mrs. Sayles’ kindergarten students proudly crafted their adorable turkey hats, bringing big smiles and lots of giggles. These were made in the "Creation Station" with the creative Mrs. Hekl who helps guide our Kindergarteners in so many fun activities that bring them so much joy!
Mrs. Bock’s creative third graders designed their very own Macy’s Day Parade floats and paraded them through the hallways! A special thanks to Mrs. Bock and Mrs. Hackett who helped make sure these balloons were strong and ready to go!

We are so grateful for our students, staff, families, and the wonderful community that makes Tuxedo UFSD feel like home. Wishing everyone a warm, safe, and happy Thanksgiving! 🧡Stay tuned for more fun and creativity that happened this week! #TuxedoUFSD #TuxedoStrong #TuxedoPride #HappyThanksgiving

📚🥯 Books and Breakfast

Mr. Kahmar, our Acting Superintendent and GFB principal, led our special Books and Breakfast assembly for our GGM students focused on gratitude. He introduced us to the heartwarming book The Crayons Give Thanks, and invited our 5th graders to read each page aloud. After the story, all students got creative by making thankfulness bracelets, with each bead representing something they are grateful for.

A big thank you to Mr. Kahmar and our students for celebrating gratitude in such a fun and meaningful way! 💛✨ #Gratitude #TuxedoUFSD #TuxedoStrong #BooksandBreakfast
