Dear Tuxedo Families, When our custodial staff arrived this morning at George F Baker High School, they were greeted with flooding on both the first and ground floors. Our staff shut off the water main. Belfor Property Restoration was brought in along with a commercial plumbing contractor. All of the water has been removed. The cause of the flood has been determined to be a burst pipe feeding a boy's bathroom. The building is solidly constructed; however, the plumbing is showing its age. Much of the piping is encased in cement. We will address these issues in our capital plan. All of the immediate repairs and any repairs resulting from collateral water damage are being addressed. At this point, we do not have a confirmed completion date for the work. Therefore, we will plan for remote learning days at GFB High School for Thursday and Friday this week. We will keep you informed as we make further progress and learn more. The Elementary school is unaffected by the flood. Elementary students should report to the school as usual. Thank you for your patience and continued support. Jeffrey T. White Superintendent of Schools

Dear Tuxedo Families, Thank you for your patience. We are happy to inform you that school will reopen on Wednesday, January 12 for in-person learning! Some of you may have received results that your children have tested positive. The school health office will be in touch with you to let you know when your children may return to school. Students in grades 7-12 who must quarantine will be able to log in to Google Meet and passively listen to their teacher's lessons from their devices. Pre-k through 6th grade teachers will be in contact daily. Your child's classroom teacher will be in touch with details. Please understand that due to the nature of this virus the situation can change quickly. We will be reviewing both staff and student availability for in-person instruction on a daily basis. If we cannot safely open to in-person instruction on any particular day(s) we will inform you as quickly as we can. Please bear with us as we navigate the pandemic. The health and safety of our students and staff continues to be our highest priority. Thank you, Jeffrey T. White Superintendent of Schools
