Tuxedo UFSD Honored with Mid-Hudson School Study Council Awards

(TUXEDO, New York, November 4, 2022) Four members of the Tuxedo Union Free School District community received "Awards for Excellence" from The Mid-Hudson School Study Council Thursday evening. Jo Ann Martin, Christine Oliva, Kelly Spranger and Matt Takeuchi were honored during an event in Middletown, New York.

The MHSCC awards recognize individuals who “demonstrate superior educational leadership and accomplishments in their educational environments.” Winners, selected by MHSS, are among nominees submitted by school districts and BOCES in seven counties

· Jo Ann Martin, Transportation Supervisor, Excellence in Administration: “I am honored to represent the Tuxedo UFSD family. As a team, we make sure that our precious cargo, families, staff and community receive the best we can offer. With my 30 years of sharing my achievements, I want to say thank you for the years of support.”

· Christine Oliva, School Counselor, Excellence in Pupil Personnel Services: “I would like to express my gratitude to the Tuxedo Administration for this wonderful acknowledgment and honor. I've had the pleasure of working with Tuxedo students, staff, and families for the past 23 years and consider this, like many others, my home away from home.”

· Kelly Spranger, former PTO President, Excellence in Community Service: “I am truly honored to be selected to receive this award. Our little Tuxedo school is so full of heart and passion and hard work from lots of people. I am truly humbled and grateful to be recognized by our amazing new administration and terrific staff for our work.

· Matt Takeuchi, Administrative Assistant, Excellence in Support Staff: "It is truly an honor to be selected for this award. Ironically, my success as a support staff member is due to the overwhelming amount of support, I have received throughout my 24 years as an employee of the district. Therefore, this is not an individual award but rather a tribute to our entire Tuxedo Family."

“Jo Ann, Christine, Kelly and Matt represent the very best of the Tuxedo Union Free School District,” said Tuxedo UFSD Superintendent Jeff White. “The work they do each day is instrumental in keeping the district running."
