Parent Academy

Tuxedo Union Free School District is proud to announce our new Parent Academy for the 2020-2021 school year! This initiative is a collaboration between the TUFSD and the Tuxedo PTO. It evolved from our mutual interest in providing support, usable tools and resources for parents in an effort to make life less stressful as we navigate learning during this unprecedented COVID Pandemic.

Each meeting in the program will be custom designed to meet the
current needs of the parents and the students, whether it be during in person,
hybrid or remote learning periods. Topics will range from the technical, social
and psychological aspects of this new form of education. We will explore
strategies, such as: Making Virtual Learning a Positive Experience, Fostering
improved parent-child communication skills, Empowering student independence and
building self-esteem. We encourage you to bring your questions and your
feedback, so we together can find answers to how we make the most of our
Curriculum based programs in this new unprecedented setting.

Our first presentation will be hosted by the Tuxedo PTO and
presented by TUFSD staff on Oct. 7th at 6:15. The “Virtual” Parent
Academy: How to Cope and Make the Most of Distance Learning. Future topics to
be announced. POWERPOINT-Coping and Managing Distance Learning
