Dear Community Members,

I am pleased to welcome two outstanding educators to our leadership team as interim principals for the upcoming school year. Both leaders bring decades of experience, a deep love of learning, and a strong commitment to helping every student succeed.

Dr. Michael Cogliano will serve as our Interim Elementary School Principal. Dr. Cogliano brings a rich background in student support services and school leadership to our elementary building. He has dedicated his career to understanding how children learn and ensuring they receive the support they need. His impressive career includes serving as a school psychologist, director of special education, building administrator, and assistant superintendent for pupil personnel. Along with this experience, he brings a wealth of knowledge in research-based instructional practices and curriculum development. Furthermore, his extensive background in social-emotional development and best practices supports the mental health and well-being of children. Ultimately, Dr. Cogliano’s specialization in special education will help ensure that our youngest students experience a supportive, inclusive, and caring learning environment.

Mrs. Barbara Quinn will join us as our Interim Middle/High School Principal. Mrs. Quinn comes to our secondary building with a strong focus on high-quality classroom instruction. She spent the majority of her teaching career working in a collaborative consultant-teacher model classroom. Since then, she has served as a building administrator at both the elementary and middle school levels, as well as assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction. With her strong background in science, mathematics, and literacy, she will place a special focus on developing a rigorous curriculum and incorporating STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) into our classrooms. Mrs. Quinn’s extensive experience provides her with a strong combination of skills to lead our secondary students toward high academic achievement and help them reach their full potential.

While Dr. Cogliano and Mrs. Quinn bring different experiences to our district, they share the same core values. Both are deeply committed to meeting the unique needs of every child. Together, they are committed to using research-based teaching practices, supporting the social-emotional needs of our students, and maintaining a high-quality curriculum. Their shared goal is to provide a rigorous and engaging educational experience that gives our students the essential knowledge and skills they need to graduate successfully and thrive in the future.

Please join me in giving Dr. Cogliano and Mrs. Quinn a warm welcome to our school community. We also invite you to join us for a Meet and Greet on Thursday, August 27, 2026, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the George F. Baker High School Library.

We are excited for a fantastic school year ahead.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey T. White

Superintendent of Schools
