Since joining the Tuxedo District in 2023, Dallas Largar has made a tremendous impact on our students’ growth and well-being. Originally coming to the district as a maternity leave replacement, she quickly became an invaluable member of our team, bringing energy, compassion, and creativity to her work every day.
A Warwick native, Dallas earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Occupational Therapy from Dominican College. She always knew she wanted to work with children, though her career path wasn’t always clear at first. After volunteering in a hospital emergency room with hopes of becoming a nurse, she realized that setting wasn’t the right fit. Instead, she found inspiration closer to home. Her aunt, an occupational therapist who works with premature babies, sparked her interest in the field and helped her discover her true calling.
At Tuxedo, Dallas focuses on helping students develop the skills they need to be successful in and out of the classroom. She believes in the power of movement and sensory regulation, often encouraging “wiggle breaks” to help students refocus their energy and attention. She shares that sensory processing challenges are extremely common; some students seek extra sensory input, while others are more sensitive to tactile or environmental sensations. Her goal is to help every child find strategies that work for them, and to support their independence in using those tools long after their OT sessions have ended.
Dallas splits her time between GFB, where she pushes into classrooms, and her full OT room in GGM, a warm, welcoming space that she’s transformed into a safe and comforting haven for students. She also leads a student club that begins with movement activities and transitions into literacy-based fun, open to GGM students who want to join.
Through her dedication, creativity, and understanding of students’ unique needs, Dallas continues to make a meaningful difference in the Tuxedo community. We’re so lucky to have her on our team!
