Congratulations to the George F. Baker High School Class of 2025! Families, friends, faculty, staff, Board of Education members, community officials and guests gathered Tuesday evening, June 25, to honor the graduates..
After a 30-minute weather delay, the rain clouds cleared just in time for the 13 George F. Baker High School seniors to take the stage and receive their diplomas.
Senior class advisor and master of ceremonies Michelle Hines led the event, which also included awards recognizing excellence in academics, the arts, athletics and leadership.
Guest speaker and Town of Tuxedo Supervisor David McMillen addressed the class with words of encouragement and perspective. He reminded students that a meaningful life doesn’t always follow a straight path—and that change is not a sign of failure, but part of finding one’s way.
Acting Superintendent and GFB Principal Jared Kahmar kept his remarks brief, quoting Winston Churchill’s message on perseverance: “Never, never, never quit.”
The centerpiece of the evening was the presentation of diplomas. Continuing a tradition started two years ago, each student selected a faculty member, administrator or Board of Education representative to present their diploma—a personal and memorable touch.
Finally, as the ceremony came to a close, Hines gave the cue. The class of 2025 tossed their caps into the air—just as a few final raindrops began to fall again.
