George F. Baker High School Principal

On October 18, 2023 the Tuxedo Union Free School District announced the appointment of Jared Kahmar in the dual role of Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction and Principal of George F. Baker High School. The administrative appointment was approved by a unanimous vote during the October 18 Board of Education meeting.

Mr. Kahmar joins the Tuxedo family after most recently serving as Principal and Athletic Director of Greenwood Lake Middle School in the Greenwood Lake Union Free School District, where he was integral in updating curriculum maps to reflect new Next Generation standards, as well as promoting social-emotional learning opportunities.

Prior to his leadership role in the Greenwood Lake School District, Mr. Kahmar served the Port Jervis City School District as an elementary school principal, a high school assistant principal and an athletics director.

Before entering school administration, Mr. Kahmar worked as a high school teacher and a college wrestling coach.  He also excelled as a course developer and instructor for the State Administration Association of New York and the College of Saint Rose.

Mr. Kahmar earned an undergraduate degree in History from East Stroudsburg University and a Master of History degree from the same institution.

“We are very excited that Mr. Kahmar will be joining our Tuxedo family,” said Superintendent Jeffrey T. White. “Jared has been an educator for more than two decades and has a diverse background as a teacher, coach, athletics director, assistant principal and principal. His leadership skills, collaborative approach and commitment to student success will help us continue to provide the best possible educational experience for our students.”

Mr. Kahmar will begin his new role on November 27, 2023.
