Congratulations  to the George F. Baker High School juniors receiving scholarship awards. Last week the school’s scholarship committee notified students and their families about the good news.

This prestigious award has been awarded since 1916 to one student in any given high school and is designed to recognize that student’s strength and success in the fields of mathematics and science. The University of Rochester's  George Eastman Young Leaders Award. The honor is given to a student who displays outstanding leadership traits and who has the potential to become a member of a select tradition at Rochester.

Jake Sandak: The Clarkson University Leadership & Achievement Award. This program recognizes high school juniors who demonstrate strong leadership qualities, positively impact their school and local community, and have a proven academic record.

Veronica Chavez Granillo: The University of Rochester's Bausch and Lomb Science Award, recognizing outstanding achievement and superior intellectual promise in the field of science.

Dominik Cichon: The University of Rochester's Xerox Award, recognizing a student who has a strong interest and talent in the pursuit of innovative approaches and an appreciation for the possibilities of technology. The application fee is waived should you choose to apply next school year.

Marley Vaught: The University of Rochester's Frederick Douglass Susan B. Anthony Award.  The award is named in honor of two of Rochester’s most significant pioneers of social justice and it recognizes a student’s commitment to understanding and addressing difficult social issues.

Should students attend the schools for which they received awards, they will be granted scholarship money over the course of their college careers.
