Community and Mental Health Fair

Thank you to the local businesses and organizations who took part in today’s Community and Mental Health Fair, held at George F. Baker High School. The PACE period event gave the District’s High School and Middle School students a chance to learn more about volunteer opportunities in the area as well as organizations providing mental health services.

Sloatsburg Food Pantry, Promenade At Tuxedo Place, the Orange County Youth Bureau and the Alcoholism & Drug Abuse Council of Orange County were just a few of the several groups set up in the hallways of GFB this afternoon. With questionnaires in hand, students stopped at each booth to inquire about the organizations role in the community and discuss ways to get involved.

As an additional enticement to ask questions, each student had a sheet stamped at the end of their exchange; entering them in a class raffle.

Todays event was organized by Tom Reilly, GFB cross content teacher and advisor to the interact and environmental clubs, Jennifer Jones, teacher and advisor to the National and Junior National Honor Society and School Counselor Christine Oliva.

Thank you to all of today’s vendors for visiting George F. Baker High School and donating various gift certificates and prizes for the students.
