Tuxedo Library Art Show

The Tuxedo Park Library hosted a George Grant Mason Elementary art show last month. Students from Kindergarten, third and fifth grade had their art on display throughout the library for the month of April. GGM Art Teacher Mark Stankiewicz provided the library with the following description for the show:

In the Art Studio Classroom all the students have drawn, painted, made both 2-dimensional and 3- Dimensional Artwork, and sculpted clay. A few have worked in printmaking and sewing!  Every grade level has learned about the elements and principles of art and different techniques to make their artwork shine.

The Kindergarteners learned about the features of the face and painted Portraits with Hats for their Art to Remember Project. They used oil pastel and Tempera paint to create their artwork.

The students in 3rd Grade learned about Mandala’s and Radial Symmetry.  They used black marker and white coloring pencil on gray paper to create an animal drawing with patterns to show contrast and value. They also created a three dimensional Hot Chocolate cup on a paper using the crayon resist technique while adding cotton for steam.  They choose their favorite to be in this show.
